It's Giveaway Day - Low Volume vs. High Volume

Congratulations to Patty - the winner of the quilting loot!

An enormous thank you to all who entered the giveaway and a double thanks to those of you who became blog and/or Facebook followers.

*****

It's Sew, Mama, Sew! Giveaway Day!

I've been thinking a lot about color lately as I've been working on various quilts and patterns. Color, I love you, but it's hard not to notice the big trend of 2013 - low volume, neutrals, earth tones, whatever you want to call them.

So here's my question for you. Which color palette do you prefer? Low volume? High volume? Something in between?

Now a little about the loot...

Get your neutrals on with a signed copy of Amy Ellis' Modern Neutrals book.

Next up, a range of Moda Candy (cute little precut bundles of 2 1/2" squares) from low volume to high volume.

A copy of my quilt pattern, Bella Roma, where I encourage you to go bold with color!

And finally, a Hera Marker from Clover. While this item has nothing to do with high or low volume, it may come in handy when finishing your high or low volume quilt project. Use it to mark your quilting lines without using a pen/chalk/pencil.

So here's the entire lot of it:

This giveaway is open to U.S. folks, only. Good luck!

-Annik

P.S. Feel free to leave a comment on the blog if you don't want to enter through Rafflecopter. I'll make sure your name is in the drawing.

  1. Low volume vs high volume totally depends on my mood... or on a singular fabric I want to highlight... or on the pattern. Ok, so maybe I have no standard rhyme or reason for my choices. Beauty can be found in any color/pattern palate.

And thank you for participating in Giveaway Day! This is a fabulous gift package.

  2. I definitely go for saturated colors and have a distinct dearth of low volume prints in my stash. I have to be very careful, as that can lead to really boring quilts.

    ReplyDelete
  3. High volume is my favorite, but I'd like to try a low volume. Problem is I don't have enough low volume in my stash to make a full quilt.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I think I might be an in between person. Most of my fabric is crazy novelty prints so I'm not sure if they're high/low. (but if it's between high/low, I like low)

    ReplyDelete
  5. I tend to use more high volume but I love the calming look of low volume and want to try to make one.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I prefer high volume, but some of the low volume quilts I've seen are gorgeous. Thanks for the lovely giveaway

  7. I am drawn to high volume thought I like the effect of low volume quilts.

  8. I think I like the bolder colors. That said, I've never done a low volume but feel like I would mess up my blocks with so much colored the same? IDK.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I like both, and depending on my mood really love both. But if pressed to pick I think I would go for low volume

  12. I prefer really bold colors, but I'm trying to work more low volume/neutrals into my quilts. It's really hard though, since I'm drawn to really bright colors.

    ReplyDelete
  13. At the moment, I'm drawn to low volume. In the past it has always been high volume, so that's probably why--something new. I'm also just really loving neutrals lately when in the past it was all about rainbows :)
