So Long Farewell 2014

Happy last day of 2014! Are your evening plans all lined up? Is your outfit ready? Have you made your list of resolutions?

I had precious little time to sew in 2014 as family and health issues took precedence. These few project provided a bit of joy, though, in an otherwise challenging year.

1. Japanese Fabric Scraps Too Beautiful to Throw Away Pillow

20" Square
Front

Invisible zipper? Not so much
Other than the sloppy sewing on the zipper, I'm quite happy with this pillow, especially the crosshatch quilting.

2. The Lone Mushroom Pillow

14" square

Front

Actually, this thing is covered in mushrooms.

This time I opted for an envelope back with button rather than the not-so-invisible zipper.

3. What Do I Do With This Mini Charm Pack? Pillow

14" square.

Front
This was a 9 patch experiment I made using one Moda candy charm pack (2 1/2" squares) of Zen Chic's Sphere. I love the colors and 80's vibe.

The lapped zipper closure is my very favorite.

Back

Neat and tidy!

4. The Leftovers Pillow

20" Square

This one is in progress. In an effort to be proactive, I tackled the pile of leftover bits and pieces from a recently pieced quilt top rather than waiting for them to gather dust. Improvisational quilting isn't usually my thing but this was so fun I plan to do more in 2015.

5. The Tree Skirt of Christmas Future

I love to sew on New Year's Day. It's become a tradition and I hope tomorrow is no exception. My plan is to finish this Christmas tree skirt. Yeah, it wasn't ready for the big day in 2014, but I'll be way ahead of schedule for 2015. Go me!

6. Do These Pants Come in My Size?

My very favorite sewing project of 2014 was this cozy pair of corduroy pants for my daughter. Here's my sweet model showing them off.

I wish you all good health and happiness in the new year. May you sew many miles in 2015!
